The Client
Since 1969, Crown Packaging Corporation has been one of America’s leading providers of industrial packaging equipment, supplies and customized packaging solutions.
Headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri and with dozens of locations throughout North America, the company has spent the last 50 plus years honing its offerings and today, it partners with top manufacturers – such as Schaumburg Specialties – to provide over 150,000 packaging products, supplies and equipment including hardware, software and automated systems, to its valued customers.
Of course, when such a prestigious company asked us to work with them to find a top notch equipment solution for their client, we jumped at the opportunity!
The Challenge
The sales team at Schaumburg Specialties was approached by the team at Crown Packaging’s Washington location and asked if we could provide them with 135 regular pan racks for a long-time frozen food client of theirs, also based in Washington.
In theory, it was a done deal – but the budgetary restraints proved to be a big challenge. Crown’s budget for each rack was around $200, whereas one of our top quality all-welded SHOPCraft racks would cost much more than that.
Our challenge was to emphasise the huge value of SHOPCraft racks when compared to cheaper alternatives. Yes, you might pay more upfront, but it’s an extremely sound investment that will stand your production line in good stead for a lifetime.
Our Solution
Truan from our sales team held a meeting with Crown and a representative from its client’s frozen food company and explained in detail the huge differences in strength and durability between a standard rack and an all-welded aluminum or stainless steel rack from our SHOPCraft range.
We then sent the three different rack options that we could provide to Crown’s team – a standard $200 pan rack, an aluminum SHOPCraft rack costing just over twice that and a stainless steel SHOPCraft rack, which would cost just under three times that amount.

We wanted the company to see exactly what they would get for their money and the marked differences in value between SHOPCraft racks and the cheaper alternative.
Upon taking delivery of the racks, the company tried them out in its workshop and was immediately struck by the superior strength and structural integrity of our SHOPCraft racks. It didn’t take them long to realise that a SHOPCraft rack was a great investment because it provides better value for money and they called us within two days to place the order for 135 aluminum SHOPCraft pan racks!

……and two weeks later, the 135 SHOPCraft racks were ready to be shipped to Washington to begin work at Crown’s client’s premises.

We soon had feedback that Crown’s frozen food client was delighted with how well the racks were working on its production line – so much so that they placed an order for another 100 racks!
We were delighted that we’d been able to educate our client about the superior strength and durability of SHOPCraft racks over cheaper competitors and thrilled that they had been able to demonstrate that knowledge to their own client, who was able to benefit straight away from the standout qualities of our aluminum pan racks on its production line.
